Save the trees
Wherever possible, keep any mature trees or hedges to add character and scale to the garden.
How will you use the space?
Consider the following when developing your landscape design:
- Enhancing any gorgeous views or aspects.
- What hard landscaping do you need? A driveway, walls, paths, decks, steps, a patio or fences.
- Do you need an open space for the kids or pets?
- Do you want a pool or spa, even if it won't happen for a few years.
- What size table and seating do you need?
- Barbeque, pizza oven or full outdoor kitchen?
- Don’t forget lighting for security, walking safely along paths or steps and for entertaining in the evening. You can also use light to highlight specimen plants or sculptures.
- Keen on home grown food? Allow space for a herb garden, fruit trees and veggie patch.
- How much time do you want to spend on maintaining the garden?
